Neonatal disposable pulse oximetry sensors for Nihon Kohden oximeters feature a patented contour C-shape to ensure that placement on the digit is easy and accurate. Additionally, the sensor's cloth wrap is soft and very pliable aiding in fit and providing a significant improvement in patient comfort while the tape allows the sensor to be easily moved and quickly reapplied to the patient. This allows one SpO2 sensor to travel with the patient from anesthesia induction through recovery to the NICU if necessary and provides the hospital with substantial cost savings. As a comparison, the tape on most other disposable oximeter sensors tears easily or loses its adhesiveness resulting in the need to replace it when reapplication is required.
